Julie Nioche Une échappée

Season 24 25
Show
That’s the story of a dancer, an escapee going from one world to another, and a designer of ephemeral spaces. Using very little things, they both take us on a phantasmagoric journey. Halfway between the art installation and the dance show, the objects and gestures combine into funny mobile representations of our imaginations.

It’s a “barebones comical extravaganza”. More precisely, it’s the story of a dancer who, along with a space designer, goes from our world to another by upending ordinary logic. After En Classe, geared toward 7 to 11-year olds, choreographer Julie Nioche continues her work towards young audiences, this time aiming for children aged 3 and older. Her new piece ingeniously and humorously connects dance with objects to highlight a different reality. And in the same vein as the film Der Lauf der Dinge, directed by Swiss visual artists Fischli and Weiss, it creates a place of poetic resistance. Breaking free of any rationality, the two performers take kids and grownups into an imaginary world filled with light images and bouncy music. A sweet, gentle and uncommon escape.
