With this short piece conceived for the little ones, Fouad Boussouf builds a fertile landscape at the edges of hip hop and contemporary dance where friendship grows before your very eyes.  Only two dancers are on stage, barefoot and wearing identical costumes. We are about to witness their encounter, a wordless but highly musical dialogue. The duo utilizes bottomless resources in this poetic and funny tale, complete with the technical and acrobatic virtuosity of the dance moves, the expressiveness of the body language and the musicality of the live “handmade” soundtrack: melodies and rhythms are played using the mouth and the body as sole instruments. The two performers share their world, their nuttiness and infectious energy in a show that sits at the connective junction of Boussouf’s activities as choreographer and educator. In fact, YËS was created in 2021 for Yanice Djae and Sébastien Vague, two young dancers the choreographer met in the mid 2010s in Vitry-sur-Seine where the two then teenagers were honing their skills on the street. After their first duo work in 2014, Les Éléments, they are now professional dancers and YËS tells us a little bit about their story.
