Coming out of the hip-hop scene, Amala Dianor excelled in the battles and went on to train in contemporary dance at CNDC in Angers. Since the early 2000s, he has created graceful choreography, intermingling myriad languages into a hybrid dance style. A unifier, he brought together three sub-Saharan choreographers in Siguifin (2021) as well as urban dance figures, electro, waacking and break experts in Dub (2023). With the duo Coquilles, he presents his first piece for young audiences, featuring two performers with contrasting physiques and energetic power. Over Richard Strauss’ Beautiful Blue Danube and an original composition, bodies break their habits to build a sense of togetherness. Still driven by a desire to spawn a common language, Amala Dianor supervises the pairing of assertive personalities and plays off of the differences between styles to achieve a singular resonance.
