(LA)HORDE / Ballet national de Marseille
WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER WALKED ON THE MOON
With this performative exhibition, (LA)HORDE explores the variegated future of dance in its passionate relation to cinema.
Heading up the CCN Ballet National de Marseille since 2019, the collective (LA)HORDE develops multidisciplinary works predominantly informed by dance, with a particular focus on the choreographic forms of popular uprising, both individual and collective. Together they make shows as well as films, performances and installations.
Particularly inspired by the physical possibilities of musicals and action movies, the company takes over Chaillot to create multiple works in and outdoors, ranging from live sculptures to performative dance installations and more under the title borrowed from Gene Kelly WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER WALKED ON THE MOON. Enlisting about 50 stage performers, including stunt performers and a DJ, the ensemble sparkle with galvanizing drive for a poetic occupation of the public space.
