Compagnie DCA / Philippe Decouflé
Stéréo
coproduction with MC93
The spirit of punk and rock'n'roll is a common thread in Philippe Decouflé's creative journey, that’s where he draws the energy from which his bestiary of destruction emerges. Stereo is his latest offering.
Stereo is the result of a desire for speed, brilliance, virtuosity, energy and rock'n'roll. A raw energy that forms the foundation of the show, carried by a young team with multiple and complementary talents. Based on a rock trio - guitar, bass and drums - I was looking for a dance that would be both structured and organic, that welcomes acrobatics as an enjoyable and spectacular complement, a dance that leaps and bounces, that spouts and spurts, until it runs out of steam. The form is hybrid, between concert and show; and music and dance become one, together. The bodies oscillate between energy and softness, speed and tenderness. It is also a game with time, which, as in life, contracts, stretches or repeats itself in infinite variations. Through these loops, we speak of love, always, we play, thwart and twist stereotypes and archetypes, to rearrange them in explosive combinations.
