Maud Le Pladec feat. Jr Maddripp
Silent Legacy
Between the sociology of gender, heritage and dance culture, Maud Le Pladec orchestrates two solos: that of 8-year-old Adeline Kerry Cruz, a young Canadian krump dance prodigy, and that of contemporary dancer Audrey Merilus.
Via two very different dance portraits, Silent Legacy considers dance as a tool for deconstructing norms, the place where all heritages, chosen and embraced, present yet foreign, are confronted. As an extension of the reflections brewed by Counting stars with you (musiques femmes) on sisterhood, identity and the place of women in history, Maud Le Pladec has imagined two solos for two dancers from different cultures and generations. Adeline Kerry Cruz is 8 years old, lives in Montreal and practices krump, a dance born in the ghettos of Los Angeles, a filter that transforms anger into life force. A story that is not her own, rather an inheritance that is above all spiritual. Audrey Merilus, for her part, has followed an academic path and has mastered the language, techniques and codes of contemporary dance, marked by an "ideology of the neutral" that she must now question. Silent Legacy is the story of these two paths and the imaginary and invisible connections that link them. The unveiling of singular identities.
