The 19 acrobats of Compagnie XY take inspiration from bird murmurations for this dizzy dive between acrobatics and poetry.
Since their inception in 2004, XY has established itself as one of the most creative companies in contemporary circus, working to rejuvenate the practice of acrobatics through unconventional stage forms. After their artistic dialogue with Loïc Touzé, these loose cannons of the French scene approached Rachid Ouramdane – the new director of Chaillot – with an eye to a collaborative work. Möbius is the result of their collaboration, offering an ideal combination of acrobatic liveliness and choreographic mastery which can be seen in the solo figures and ensemble movements alike. From sudden soars to slow collapses, spins to somersaults, portés to glissades, horizontality to verticality, the 19 performers bounce around between the earth and the sky on a bare stage, a blank space suitable to daydreaming. Constantly in flux, laced with compelling poetic sparkles, the piece hovers airily in suspended time, exhaling a collective breath that is both light and powerful and deeply resonating with all living things.

Depuis 2017, la Compagnie XY est associée pour l’ensemble de ses projets au Phénix, scène nationale de Valenciennes, dans le cadre du Pôle européen de création, ainsi qu’au Cirque-Théâtre d’Elbeuf, Pôle national cirque de Normandie. Depuis 2021, elle est associée à Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse ainsi qu’à l’Espace des arts, scène nationale de Chalon-sur-Saône.
Elle est également accompagnée depuis 2016 par la Fondation BNP-Paribas.
