Ballet British Columbia
Bedroom Folk / The Statement / GARDEN
in co-production with La maison des Arts Créteil
The Canadian company, straight out of Vancouver, hits the Parisian stage for a stellar triple bill conducted by Medhi Walerski, Crystal Pite, Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar.
The twenty dancers of Ballet British Columbia are as rare on France’s stages as they are acclaimed worldwide. The thrilling quartet of the explosive Israeli duo of Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, the Canadian Crystal Pite and the French Mehdi Walerski choreograph three major pieces of their respective styles. The first one, Bedroom Folk ties its razor-sharp body language around the spellbinding score of DJ Ori Lichtik, a figure of the techno scene. The second one, GARDEN, brings a fluidly stylish dance to the musical conversation of Camille Saint-Saëns’ piano quintet, opus 14. Finally, The Statement, explores the dance-theater register and leads four performers to acknowledge responsibility for their actions as they struggle for power. A spectacular show.
