Pascal Rambert
3 annonciations
Drawing inspiration from Venetian painting, the author/director Pascal Rambert travels through centuries in an excitingly staged show delivered by three actresses in three languages.
Inspired by the Annunciation theme, as it recurs relentlessly in the history of art and more specifically during the Italian Renaissance, Pascal Rambert offers a triptyque to raise a question: what could be announced today? A beginning or an end? Through the hypnotic flow of the text and the pictorial power of the sparse staging, the author/director looks back through centuries over three monologues delivered by three outstanding actresses speaking in their mother tongues, namely Italian, Spanish, and French. At the edge of an ominous chiaroscuro, Silvia Costa, Itsaso Arana and Audrey Bonnet, angel, Madonna and astronaut respectively, reinterpret the mystery of the Annunciation with a stream of fears and hopes and a litany of prophecies. A poetic and spiritual journey, 3 annonciations looks at beauty and humanity, and their resistance to the passage of time.
