Dalila Belaza Un peu pour mon cœur...

Dalila Belaza has been ploughing her way through this once forbidden and forever foreign territory for almost thirty years. She began her career alongside her sister, Nacera Belaza, who remains her closest artistic partner to this day. A turning point in her career came during a residency with the Aveyron folk dance group Lous Castellous: Dalila Belaza realized the need to explore new worlds and founded her own company. Her creative approach, guided by a need for meaning and elevation, is fueled by an immediate intuition: for her, dance is neither an outlet nor an aesthetic object. By working on presence—in posture, breath, and the relationship to space—Dalila Belaza seeks to bring forth a shared experience, a meaning that traverses and unites bodies.
Her first three works—Au coeur, Figures, and Rive—are all offshoots of the same intellectual journey. Her imagination infuses these pieces with a fundamental intention: to create intersections between the memory of traditional rituals and the movements of contemporary dance, giving rise to a third realm. Through a delicate and masterful balancing act, Dalila Belaza places listening at the heart of the structure. Musicality, a principle that is both structuring and enduring in her work, is woven into every piece she has conceived since founding her company. With Orage, an image of telluric chaos performed as a duet with guitarist and composer Serge Teyssot-Gay, it becomes the driving force of the narrative. Here, dance carries a song that makes it a voice, more so than a body. At the center lies a state of vibrational being that creates a shared frequency between body and sound. Un peu pour mon coeur... rituals and the vocabulary of contemporary dance in order for a third territory to emerge, one in which dance becomes a universal and timeless language.
