Antoine Colnot / Anne Rehbinder / Amala Dianor

Imagined by Antoine Colnot and Anne Rehbinder from the HKC company, and by the choreographer Amala Dianor, Urgence represents the radical speech and incandescent physical commitment of five youths who have chosen to embrace a career as a professional dancer, paying no heed to socio-cultural prejudice.

A show is rarely so justly titled. It is indeed to an artistic and human urgency – bringing to the stage the bodies and words of youths from “sensitive” neighbourhoods – that are responding Antoine Colnot, stage director, and Anne Rehbinder, author, with the collaboration of choreographer Amala Dianor. Originally from Lyon, their five performers come from hip-hop and combine theatre and dance to let their singular voices be heard, on the hybrid sounds of musician Olivier Slabiak.
Their journey of cultural emancipation, their need for recognition, their artistic learning but also their desire for new modes of expression, all matured over a long creation process. All these themes make up the framework of this hybrid and enthralling creation that wants to invent a “new way of sharing” with the public. ISABELLE CALABRE
