Aïcha M'Barek et Hafiz Dhaou / Alexander Vantournhout
TWICE#2
Two short pieces performed by a duo of dancers, imagined by three choreographers who lent themselves for the first time in their career to the exercise of writing for a young public.
TWICE is an initiative of the network for dance and youth LOOP and the Gymnase | Centre de Développement Chorégraphique National [National Centre of Choreographic Development] of Roubaix. It consists in enriching and renewing creations in dance for young public by commissioning two choreographers with singular forms of writing. Last season, these were Robyn Orlin and Emmanuel Eggermont. For TWICE#2, Hafiz Dhaou and Aïcha M’Barek, from the Chatha company, and Alexander Vantournhout take over. Two female dancers of Alexander Vantournhout’s Not Standing company were chosen to perform the two creations. Hafiz and Aïcha are interested in the fragile equilibrium and support of a body organised around the pelvis, the spinal column and suspension. Alexander pursues his research of movement in the physical limitations and the relationship between the performer and the item of clothing. He takes interest in tight skirts, shoulder pads, high heels and corsets that influence and modify the proportions of individuals. AGNÈS IZRINE
