Alonzo King LINES Ballet / Cancelled
The Personal Element / Azoth
Two programmes in one evening, that is to say a double occasion to be amazed by the elegance, the sensuality and the virtuosity of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet company.
At the head of one of the rare companies of contemporary ballet in the Unites States, Alonzo King, based in San Francisco, is constantly pushing the limits. His sensual and erudite dance draws from the rigor of the classics as well as the sweet madness of jazz. For this evening in two stages, he “summons” two exceptional musicians, Jason Moran and Charles Lloyd. The Personal Element brings together eight dancers and enables us to find the clear line of movement that is so dear to King, in a luminous and sober décor. Azoth, the ancient name of Mercury, boasts another ambition and develops the theme of alchemy. Transforming dance according to the variations of the partition, Alonzo King becomes once again a musician. PHILIPPE NOISETTE
