Bronislava Nijinska is none other than the sister of the famous choreographer and dancer Vaslav Nijinsky! Dominique Brun pays a beautiful tribute to her here.
Dominique Brun has centred her work for a long time on a journey through artworks that exalt the modernity of the past. As a sort of archaeologist magician of dance, she gives back to these ballets the shine of the liveliest of creations by highlighting their radicality and their choreographic potency. After having delivered two superb versions of The Rite of Spring and a dazzling reinterpretation of Afternoon of a Faun, masterpieces signed Nijinsky, this time she turns to his sister, Bronislava Nijinska. Here is the woman who created Les Noces [The Wedding] (on a music by Stravinsky) and the overtly famous Boléro by Ravel! This programme, led by dancers who have been working with Dominique Brun since Sacre # 2 in 2014 and the personality of François Chaignaud, accompanied by the vocal ensemble Aedes and the orchestra Les Siècles, allows us to hear two rare versions: one for voices and instruments of Boléro, and a surprising orchestration of Les Noces dating back to 1919.
