Centaur
Can an artificial intelligence have feelings? To this question, Pontus Lidberg answers: not yet! That is until the appearance of the centaur, a hybrid being at the intersection of Man and Machine.
A currently prominent choreographer, Pontus Lidberg gratifies Paris with a new production from the Danish Dance Theatre, of which he has become the artistic director. Centaur imagines an encounter between dancers and artificial intelligence under the sign of this mythical creature that is the centaur. The choreographer has surrounded himself with the visual artist Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm and the Japanese composer Ryoji Ikeda. The project asks the following question: can the intelligence of the machine and that of the dancers complete each other? Or does one have to necessarily dominate the other? Pontus Lidberg’s powerful choreographic writing should give wings to this centaur. An occasion to discover in the most beautiful way the Danish Dance Theatre in action. Centaur or when present and future are as one. PHILIPPE NOISETTE
