Flamenco Biennial
Flamenco is one of today’s most thriving and original art forms. Its power springs from a subtle mix of spontaneity and control of tension conveyed by extreme passion. The songs, dances and music that Gypsies, descendants of Tsiganes, built upon and enriched in Andalusia since their arrival in the 15th century are now supplemented with literature, cinema, photography, visual arts, theater and fashion, which are contributing to the amazing vibrancy of this popular art form.
At Chaillot, where Flamenco has been long consistently featured, we encourage all aficionados to attend the first edition of this biennial, jointly conceived with the Biennial of Sevilla and with the invaluable and expert help of Daniela Lazary. All the stages and spaces of the theater will resonate with the unique characters of tremendous artists and beautifully surprising offerings. Actor and director Marcial Di Fonzo Bo will maintain an unexpected and festive connective thread throughout the festival, such as, for example, the improvisation evening which brings together four choreographers and performers of flamenco dance and modern dance, including Eva Yerbabuena and Carolyn Carlson, Andrès Marin and Kader Attou. That’s just the beginning!!! Enjoy the festival!
