Having performed for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and the American Ballet Theater, Alonzo King created his own company by reconciling the contributions of classical technique and contemporary creativity. William Forsythe views King as “one of the few genuine ballet masters of our time.” Partial to artistic collaborations, Alonzo King calls on singer Lisa Fischer, who came into the spotlight alongside the Rolling Stones and Sting. A unique voice for virtuoso dance. The power of singing echoes that of movement in The Propelled Heart. For the choreographer, our relationships with individuals  “serve as practice fields in order to build chemistry.” As the title suggests, this “propelled heart” beats to the pace of bodies.
