The New Zealand Dance Company and Dancenorth (from Australia) are featured in a double bill that reflects on the place of individuals and celebrates cultural diversity in the global age.

In Syncing Feeling, Kyle Page and Amber Haines - with Dancenorth company – explore the duet and remind us that “the only thing that separates us is our skin.” Rooted in the Theory of Mind, the piece highlights the cognitive processes that facilitate the multiple aspects of the human mind, including empathy, learning through imitation, deciphering of  others’ actions, feelings and emotions. As to the New Zealand Dance Company from Auckland, it presents two pieces. The first one, In Transit, by Louise Potiki Bryant, focuses on transitional states, with the view that life is a continual series of transitions. It explores the interaction between daily life and the divine. In the second piece, choreographer Stephen Shropshire expounds the themes of dispossession and belonging, comparing the body to an island. The Geography of an Archipelago questions the borders established by colonialism, celebrating diversity and offering a “topological map of the journey that snakes its way to the self.” A sustainable development  dance based on the respect for nature and the ancestors.
