The Finnish choreographer returns to Chaillot after the masterful Borrowed Light in 2014. In Morphed, Tero Saarinen gathers seven men on stage. “Movement is a constant inspiration for me.” In this piece, I want to zero in on contrary forces, skirmishes.” The male dancers come to grips with issues like change and sensuality. “What does it mean, to be a man today?” Tero Saarinen seems to ask. Driven by the music of Esa-Pekka Salonen, the scenography and lights of Mikki Kunttu and costumes designed by Teemu Muurimäki, the choreography blends styles. Once again Tero Saarinen demonstrates his talented command of ensembles and his expressive language.
